You Need A Website To Successfully Promote Your Brand

You there! You need a website to successfully promote your brand across the world today. This article not only tells you why, but hopefully prompts you to create a website today if you don’t have one, or pushes you to update your website if you haven’t done so lately.

Why Do You Need A Website? So You Can Be Found!

It doesn’t matter if you are a solopreneur, an entrepreneur, or an owner of a small business, you need a website so your potential customers or clients can find you.

Let’s say you’re not selling a product or service, but instead promote a topic dear to your heart. You don’t need a website, right? Wrong! You need a site so can explain your cause and provide ways to interact with those interested.

“But, Brittbot, everyone has a website nowadays. This isn’t an issue.”

Turns out that notion is wrong. I recently searched for political candidates online so I could fill out my absentee ballot. Turns out about a third of the candidates listed on the ballot didn’t have website dedicated to their campaign at all. The other candidates that had a campaign site either had a good layout with information easy to find, or had a poor layout with too much information. Speaking of which….

You Need A Website That’s Easy To View And Navigate

It’s easy to go to Wix or Squarespace, buy a domain name, and use their website builder to create a website. What’s difficult is to design a website that is easy on the eyes and features simple navigation.

Many individuals and companies treat their site like a book by filling each page with blocks of text. While you do need to explain your products or services, you should not inundate your readers with too much text. Remember, pictures and videos convey much more information than text. Especially on mobile devices like smartphone and tablets.

So how can you design your site properly? By viewing other popular websites similar to your product or service. If you run an Ecommerce site, view how Amazon or Ebay designed their layout and navigation. Do you sell social media marketing services? Check out how Hootsuite or Hubspot designed their websites.

Once you find a layout and navigation you like, you can implement that on your site.

A One Page Website Is Fine

Some people think they need a massive site to promote their business. As a result, some spend a great amount of money on its design and maintenance. While some companies need a large or complex website, I’m here to say that you probably don’t need that. Many individuals and small businesses can get by with an one page website.

This is a site containing all of the information on one long page. These sites are usually divided up into sections:

  • Intro section
  • Product / Service section
  • Testimonials section
  • Contact Section
  • FAQ section (optional)

These sites are easy to develop and maintain, which is great for those who want or need to build and maintain their own sites. Finally, many site builders offer one page templates for you to use.

Sites Don’t Cost As Much Money As You Think

Cost is a valid concern, but sites don’t cost as much money as you think. You can build a free web page on wordpress.com. That is great for personal blogs, those wanting to promote their services, or people wanting to post their resume online. Buying the domain name for your page can be as low as $8.88 from Namecheap. Finally, if you need an E-commerce site, Wix offers various plans ranging from $23 to $49 a month.

Now if you go the professional designer route, you will pay more money as you have to pay for someone to do everything for you. If you don’t have the time to develop and maintain your web page, hiring a professional is the right move.

Conclusion

I hope this article pushes you to create a site if you don’t have one, or take the one you have already and upgrade it. If you want to learn more about the importance of having a web page, continue to return to Brittbot for more articles.
