I’m creating an online store in January 2021 and I picked WooCommerce to power it. I’m creating a plan now for my journey with WooCommerce and I will document it for this website.
What’s The Store And What Will I Sell?
The store is called “Let’s All Meat” that focuses on the meat-eater / carnivore lifestyle. I love eating meat and I love wearing t-shirts. I couldn’t find apparel that fits into that category I liked so I made my own. My store will sell t-shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, magnets, mugs, and more.
My Journey With WooCommerce: Why Choose It Over Shopify?
The biggest reason I chose WooCommerce over Shopify is the ability to control it. Shopify is great and I can’t speak ill over it. However, I love building and controlling my own website. I can’t do that with Shopify since it’s a closed system.
A minor reason that pushed me away from Shopify is their monthly charge. I understand it because they need to pay for developers and support staff but I didn’t want to have to pay for that service.
When Will My Journey With WooCommerce Start?
I will file the paperwork for the LLC with my state in January. After that is good to go then I will apply for the business license with my county. Once I have those two pieces of the business formation in place then I will start building and designing the online store.
I will use Namecheap for web and email hosting. I already used them to buy the domain name long ago. I’m currently using the company to design a logo and make some printed materials (like business cards).
When I really get going I will document it all here. That should be around mid-January 2021.
